Song to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema: Lata Mangeshkar sings again

“Satrangi Jaadugar”: Wizcraft celebrates 100 years of Indian Cinema (You Tube)

When musical luminaries like melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, Chithra, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Sadhana Sargam, Suresh Wadkar, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghosal, Sunidhi Chauhan Shaan, KK, Sukwinder Singh, Kailash Kher, Shankar Mahadevan, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma and Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia come together to create music, one can wonder what will be the result. A song that can be aptly called a “dream song” has been created by some of India’s best musicians to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema and the song is called “Shukriya satrangi jadugar”

The song, meant to celebrate the glorious 100 years of Indian cinema has been penned by Prasoon Joshi and composed by Shantanu Moitra.

Prasoon revealed that in the song he has tried to weave in the magic, mysticism, charm and undying charisma of Indian Cinema that in a way binds Indians across the world together.

Both Prasoon  and Shantanu unanimously felt that as the song is about the journey of Indian cinema, parts of it should be sung by all the old and new favorites of the industry and their dream was duly fulfilled when everyone right from Lata Ji to Sunidhi and Sukhwinder agreed to be a part of the project. The only sad part was that Sri. Manna Dey who has ruled both Tollywood and Bollywood for an eternity now could not be a part of the project due to his falling health.

Apart from the fact that the song has been made to celebrate the spirit of Indian cinema, melody queen Lata Mangeshkar’s involvement has made it all the more special thus also guaranteeing that it will be hummed across age groups for years to come.

The song will soon be aired in major Radio channels and broadcast in all popular TV channels (probably reminding us all of Mile Sur Mera Tumhara).

We look forward to a grand unveiling of this beautiful and one of a kind song.
