The evening of 27th July again saw Kolkata’s passion and enthusiasm owed to the presence of King of hearts Shahrukh Khan’s presence in City Center 2 in Rajarhat Kolkata. The crowd that CC2 witnessed in the evening can be seen in Kolkata only during Durga Puja, but then again King Khan’s presence is definitely no small an event for us Kolkatans. SRK was in town to promote his upcoming film, Chennai Express and to meet and brief the press about the movie and its prospects. He started off with a live performance, driving the crowd crazier and then went on to meet the press.
Sharukh passionately spoke about his association with the city and also told the press that of all the places he visits the kind of warmth that he gets from the people of Kolkata is unmatched and most overwhelming. SRK, the brand ambassador of the city also said that he loves Kolkata and just finds a reason to come here again and again.
About the film he said that it is an action comedy film with a sweet layer of romance in it. This Rohit Shetty Film is already very popular because of its star cast, unique dialogues and soulful music. He said that it is a clean family film which can be enjoyed by people of different ages.
“Chennai Express”, stars Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone and the two actors have come together to share screen space after six years. Their first film together was Om Shanti Om that established and introduced Deepika to Bollywood and since then there has been no looking back for ravishing Deepika. Talking about Deepika, King Khan said that they are very good friends and he did not find any change in her as an actor or as a person after all the success she has tasted off late. According to him, Deepika is the epitome of Stardom in Bollywood and with her charming personality and beautiful looks she is exactly what an international actor should be.
Shahrukh also voiced his opinion about the increasing crime rate in Bengal against women and feels that it is not only the case of a single city or state, this is something that can be seen all around the world. He said that in order to get rid of this ordeal, the basic education of boys needs to be looked into. Respecting women and protecting them and their rights should become second nature to them right from the very childhood and this can be achieved only with constructive basic education.
The Bollywood Hindi film Chennai Express will be releasing on 9th August, on the auspicious occasion of Eid. Probed about the plan of releasing his film on Eid, the Baadshah mentioned that it is not his conscious choice as he is not too superstitious about these things. He however feels that Eid, Diwali and Christmas are the three most important times to release films from a commercial point of view as it is during these festivals that people need avenues to enjoy and the fun of watching a fully entertaining masala Bollywood Hindi film is second to none.
With Sharukh Khan in Kolkata to promote the movie, the fate of Chennai Express seems to be sealed at least in the city as probably no other city has as many SRK fans as Kolkata can boast of.
