Kolkata was gifted with a swanky new market ‘The Lake Mall’ on the eve of Independence Day 2013 and the opening ceremony was held amidst much fanfare. Gracing the opening ceremony were some of Kolkata’s favorite celebrities and of course West Bengal Chief Ms. Minister Mamata Banerjee and her team of Cabinet Ministers.
The Lake Mall stands tall in one of Kolkata’s most crowded and favorite Bazaars, The Lake Market and has been built based on the PPP model under the patronage of Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Venkatesh Group. Not only is the mall big, the business prospects it offers to business owners and consumers is also enormous due to which probably, the CM herself chose to present it to the people of her city. A huge crowd had gathered to witness this grand event with people almost spilling on the roads but then again the enthusiasm of the people was way higher than the petty inconveniences faced by commuters on Rashbehari Avenue that evening as when Bengal’s own Didi is on stage, the public can’t help but listen in rapt attention.
Ms. Mamata Banerjee almost took charge of the entire show as soon as she was on the stage and aptly used the opportunity of such a huge public gathering to bring her ministers to the fore as she gave each one their due share of stage time to greet the public and make their presence felt. Accompanying Didi were her ministers namely, Subrata Mukherjee, Boby Hakim and others who had helped in finally giving shape to this wonderful and grand idea.
Tollywood celebrities, old and new alike were present at the opening ceremony too. Pretty Tollywood actresses like Swastika Mukherjee, Paoli Dam, Mimi Chakroborty, Srabanti and others added to the glamour quotient of the event and accompanying them were the leading men from the industry namely director Srijit Mukherjee, Singer Anupam Roy, actors Soham and Jishu along with others. Some Tollywood Film industry heavy weights like Sri. Sandip Ray, Mr. Ranjit Mallick and Mr. Dipankar Dey were also present at the event.
Not just the common masses but the initiators of this project namely Venkatesh Group and KMC have high hopes from this one of a kind facility and its success will surely stand out as an example to encourage many entrepreneurs to partner with the government and work for similar public welfare projects.
Happy Shopping Kolkata!!
