Bandhan, which is the world’s second largest micro finance company, in an endeavor to open up more avenues for the growth in income potential of the craftsmen and artisans of the nation, opened its second outlet Bandhan Creation in Gariahat. The opening of this outlet has been well timed with the shopping season of Bengal as Durga Puja is just round the corner and this is the time when everything new and trendy is lapped up with an astounding speed.
As Bandhan primarily aims to promote the handicraft market of rural India, its retail outlets, the one that has been operating in Salt Lake since 2012 and the new Gariahat addition also stick to this basic principle and the stores are replete with beautiful handmade home décor items, dress materials and everything that you may desire to posses to adorn your homes or yourself with this Durga Puja.
Also present for the store launch ceremony were Director Anjan Dutta with son, music director Neel Dutta. Both, Dutta junior and senior seemed to be quite happy to be a part of this wonderful initiative and Dutta senior even told the media that though he generally does not attend too many of such functions he could not say no to this one because Bandhan is doing a very noble task of reviving rural India’s art and culture and should be supported in all possible ways. The Dutta duo personally met the craftsmen who were present at the store working on their pieces and asked various questions related to their work prospects. Bandhan also presented both father and son wonderful Kurta-pajama sets and both were equally delighted to receive them. After scrutinizing the collection Anjan Dutta even said, “FabIndia customers now have another choice”.
