Sholoana Bangaliana was at the sets of New Kolkata Bangla Movie Ekti Muhurter Jonyo to catch up with the cast and crew and know more about this new Bengali movie.
As was revealed from the interaction with the crew members, Ekti Muhurter Jonyo is a movie that aims to bring to the fore the atrocities on children and the issue of child labor that has plagued the nation.
Srila Majumder who plays the role of a school teacher in the movie spoke to Sholoana Bangaliana and elaborated on her character. She, as the school teacher realizes that poor students after enrolling into schools and attending them for a short while are forced to give up education to work as menial laborers and their basic rights of primary education are rampantly violated by the parents and employers alike. When the teacher finds out about this, she tries to bring the students back and on her own risk goes to the Brick factories where the kids are employed to try and convince them to come back to the school. The teacher even tries to convince the guardians of the students who are forced to work at the cost of education to fend for their family.
Mrinal Mukherjee plays the role of a corrupt social worker who in the name of social work aids in the exploitation of the poor villagers but eventually realizes his mistake once his misdeeds are exposed in front of the public.
Director Shiboprasad Ckakroborty also seemed to be quite excited about the movie and all his actors unanimously agreed that the director made them all feel very much at home while working together.
At a time when Bengali cinema is exploring newer unexplored avenues, a film like Ekti Muhurter Jonyo based on the evils of child labor will surely be appreciated by the audience of Bengal and is also expected to create a stir in the international film circle provided the director is able to treat the subject well.
