Somchanda Bhattacharya’s solo Rabindra Sangeet album “Amar Robi Bela” was recently launched at Gallery Gold in the presence of eminent Tabla player Bickram Ghosh and music director Debojyoti Mishra. The album has been brought out by Aatman Audio.
Looking pretty in a turquoise sari, Singer Somchanda Bhattacharya highlighted on some aspects of the album and also about her other works. “This is my first Rabindra sangeet album. I have worked in other albums before like Hotat Dekha from Cosmic Harmony. I decided to come out with this album to showcase the way in which I see Rabindanath Tagore. This is the reason why the album has been named Amar Robibela. The songs have been selected randomly by me. These are the songs which I have always wanted to sing. Since most of the songs of Tagore have been sung earlier by eminent singers, there will be a comparison made between me and them. However I will urge the listeners to not compare and instead listen to my way of seeing this great man” said the singer. The singer is trained in Hindustani classical music and she has received training in Rabindrasangeet from her mother. The treatment of the songs in this album has been done in such a way so that it will cater to the tastes of the youngsters and also to the not so old individuals. There are five songs in the album namely “Jyotsna Raate”, “Eso Eso”, “Praan chay”, “Sohena Jatona” and “Chokhhe amar trishna”. The music arrangement of the songs has been done by Subhadeep Sarkar.
Somchanda is also into playback singing. She has lent her voices to songs in films like Chayamoy, Meghe Dhaka Tara, Ashaare Goppo. The singer has been working with the top music directors of the industry like Raja Narayan Deb, Debojyoti Mishra, Bickram Ghosh and she feels she is indeed lucky to be getting a chance of working with them.
Bickam Ghosh who will be releasing for the first time a Puja album said” The first day she came to my studio, I did not think she had the capability to sing so well. But after listening to her singing, I was proved wrong. She has sung a song in my Puja album also. I plan to wok more with her in future”. Music director Debojyoti Mishra felt it to be a great opportunity to come and support her for her maiden Rabindrasangeet album.
Somchanda Bhattacharya’s album “Amar Robibela” sounds good and will be a treat for the listeners.
