The three-day music fiesta Radio Mirchi Jalsaghar had a fitting finale on Sunday night with Bollywood singer Papon enthtalling the crowd with a performance that was nothing short of being a genius.
The dimunitive Bollywood heartthrob from Assam sang Hindi, Bengali and Assamese numbers with the same gusto and panache and matched it with an overall performance that saw the crowd cheering decibles shooting through the Science City Auditorium.
The highlight of Mirchi Jalsaghar finale was when Usha Utthup joined him for an impromptu jamming, “Banao”, from the first row sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Earlier in the evening, Somlata began the show churning out her hits, before Nachiketa came on to the stage for a solo performance after almost a year. Nachiketa might have lost a few kilos and a little bit of his voice but he had the same electrifying presence on the stage like that of the 90s. The crowd danced like puppets to his words and swayed like children to his music.
Nachiketa showed his class yet again when he whistled the full song, Nilanjana over the microphone.
