Barfi, Badtameez and now ‘Besharam’ Ranbir Kapoor was in Kolkata on October 1st , just a day before the release of his New Bollywood Hindi Movie Besharam to address the press and talk about his very ‘Besharam’ performance in the movie.
Ranbir, who has been riding high on success in the year 2013 again has high hopes from his new film Besharam and is quite excited about the character he has played in the movie along with mum Neetu Kapoor and Dad Rishi Kapoor who is also his favorite actor till date.
As Ranbir sees the movie and its title, it is all about being ‘Besharam’ from one’s heart and just doing just what the heart says is right. It is all about opening up and breaking all inhibitions said Ranbir.
When asked about his experience of working with his parents, Ranbir did admit that initially the thought was like a nightmare as both his parents are extremely good actors and are his role models too but eventually the entire thing came out beautifully and it was great fun to work together in the movie.
Ranbir was also asked about his take on remakes to which he said that he personally does not appreciate remakes as he feels that a movie once made is made to its best. On the same note, when asked if Ranbir had to remake and act in any one of his father’s films which one would he choose, to which Ranbir said that if he had to then it would be ‘Karz’.
Ranbir also spoke highly of co-star Pallavi Sharda who is debuting with Besharam and even hoped that the audience appreciates her honest efforts that are very much visible on screen.
Ranbir also expressed his desire of working in Bengali movies as he feels that there is hardly any other Indian state or community that still holds on to its roots and culture the way Kolkata or Bengalis do. He highly appreciates Bengali literature though he does not know the language yet. Ranbir also said that he enjoys working with Bengali directors but his wish of working with Rituparno Ghosh will remain unfulfilled now that he is no more. Talking about Kolkata at large, Ranbir said that his love affair with Kolkata started from his Barfi days and it is this addiction to the city that compels him to come back again and again for promotions as well as shoots. (Ranbir will be seen shooting in Kolkata in April for his upcoming film).
On a closing note, when asked to name one’ Besharam actor’ whom he idolizes, Ranbir promptly replied that it is definitely Sri Shammi Kapoor as he has given some of the most un-inhibited performances in front of the camera.
In spite of having a very tight schedule Ranbir spent enough time with the media in Kolkata and posed for some really cool and funky photographs and left with a note that after the super cool Besharam the audience will see him in a very rugged angry look which is absolutely different from his current chocolate hero image in his next film Jagga Jasoos.
From the looks of it, Besharam is a perfect family entertainer that the audience will want to watch again and again.
The Bindaas, Cool, Over the top, loud and to an extant vulgar Babli that Ranbir has played in the movie is nowhere close to his real self as in personal life he is way too shy and disciplined.
