After the major upset of 2012 in the form of “Macho Mastana”, ”Mukti” is Director Reshmi Mitra’s latest Bangla movie ready to be released on 4th October 2013. Reshmi’s prior films include Piriti Kanthaler Atha & Bhalobasa Zindabad. The film stars Rituparna Sengupta, Rajdeep, Shilajit, Monami Ghosh and others. Music of Mukti has been composed by Raja Narayan Deb, who has earlier composed the music of Bhooter Bhobisyot and various advertisement commercials.
The plot of Mukti is based on the relationship of a teacher and her student and shows how they gradually develop mutual attractions. Rituparna Sengupta plays Nayanika, a teacher at a North Bengal school. Nayanika’s life is getting destroyed due her husband’s ignorance & reluctance towards their conjugal relationship. Her husband (Shilajit Majumder) is a creative person and he remains preoccupied with his own values and lifestyle. He even has an extra marital affair with one of his creative associates (played by Monami Ghosh). Arko, essayed by Rajdeep, is one of Nayanika’s students. He comes from a dysfunctional family and has psychological challenges and is a loner. Nayanika tries her level best to help Arko, but in the process, hormones and loneliness in both of them kick in. Earlier we have watched films, where a student gets attracted or even obsessed with his/her teacher but here the twist in the tale is that the attraction is both ended & even gets sexual. ‘Mukti’ is indeed a big break for Rajdeep as his last release “Damadol” could not strike a chord with the audience. After the superhit TV soap “Ogo Bodhu Sundori” , Rajdeep is trying really hard to make his mark in Tollywood & Mukti could well be a decisive factor for him. After the disappointing box office results of Mrs Sen & Aleek Sukh , Rituparna Sengupta is also looking forward to see this movie take off on a high note.
