Tolly Queen Koel Mallick returns to Bangla cinema after marriage with “Rangbaaz” which has been produced by her husband Nishpal Singh Rane under the banner of his home production house ‘Surinder Films’. Venkatesh Films has taken the charge of the distribution of this newTollywood entertainer.
Though Rangbaaz stars the most loved romanticTollywood Hero Dev & the number one heroine of Bangla cinema Koel Mullick, the real USP of this Tollywood romantic thriller are Allen Amin’s mind blowing action sequences. The readers by now must be wondering regarding the identity of Allen Amin. For those Bangla movie viewers, who are not much into Bollywood Masala Movies, Allen Amin was the Action Director of Abbas Mastaan’s “RACE”, which featured Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna & Katrina Kaif. According to Nispal Sigh Rane, Bengali Audience or Tollywood has never ever experienced such blasting, thrilling & breathtaking action sequences in Commercial Tollywood movies.
Director of Rangbaaz is Raja Chanda, who earlier has directed Dev in Challenge II, which was released during the last Kolkata Durga Puja. Rangbaaz has been shot in the exotic locations of Bangkok and is all set to be released on October 11th, 2013, the grand day of Maha Saptamee. Rangbaaz is a romantic revenge drama, starring Dev, the Superstar of Bangla cinema as Raj and Tollywood actress Koel Mallick plays Madhurima, who is featured as Raj’s love interest in the movie.
Now let’s take a look at the story of this Tollywood mainstream thriller:
Raj was a kid of merely 10 yrs when his father gets killed by a criminal who happens to be a don of international repute operating from Thailand. Raj gets imprisoned in a juvenile home for a crime he had not even committed and after his release he loses all of his boyish innocence & turns out to be a “Rangbaaz” (the stylish goon). Raj searches for his mother and when he gets her, he comes to know about his father’s murder. From then on avenging his father’s death becomes Raj’s only ambition in life. He reaches Bangkok to trace his father’s killer & during the course of his activities, Raj comes in contact with Madhurima, an arrogant spoilt daughter of a local business tycoon, played by the versatile Rajatava Dutta. Eventually both Raj & Madhurima fall deeply in love with each other. The story then leads to a climax where Raj has to make a tough choice and decide if he is ready to sacrifice his love for the sake of avenging his father’s brutal killing Thus, this terrible collision of Love & Hatred dominates the climax of Rangbaaz.
Rangbaaz marks the Bangla cinema debut of Rahul Dev, the Super Villain / Anti-Hero of Tamil & Telegu film industry. Rahul Dev has also acted in few Bollywood movies like Champion, Blue, Shaapit, etc and is quite a regular face in almost all the films, produced by the Bhatt (Mahesh Bhatt – Mukesh Bhatt – Vikram Bhatt) Camp. After a long time, popular TV Serial actor/director Kushal Chakraborty is returning back to Bangla cinema to play Dev’s father’s character in Rangbaaz. Renowned Bangla Theater & television daily soap actress Moushumi Saha has played the crucial character of Dev’s mother in the movie. The comedy department of ‘Rangbaaz’ has been ably handled by Kharaj Mukherjee & Biswanath Bosu.
The Masala King of Tollywood N.K Salil has written the screenplay & dialogues of Rangbaaz. Ravi Ranjan Moitra is the editor and Sailess Awasthi has done the Cinematography of the film. Jeet Ganguly has composed the songs of Rangbaaz and has used the voices of Arijit Singh, Monali Thakur, Akriti Kakkar & Mika Singh in his compositions.
In short, it seems that Rangbaaz will be a ‘Paisa Wasool’ masala movie for the fun-loving audience of Bangla Cinema and it’s beyond any doubt that Kolkata Durga Puja is the best time to release such an entertaining film.
