The music album for the film Aschorjyo Prodeep was released by acclaimed singer Usha Uthup at the Chrome Hotel. The director Anik Datta, composer Raja Narayan Deb, singers Raghav Chatterjee, Dibyendu Mukherjee, Tanya Sen, Timir Biswas, actors Saswata Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta, Srilekha Mitra, Mumtaz Sorcar and other members of the cast were present on this occasion.
All the song sequences from the film were screened to an audience filled with eminent personalities from the world of cinema, music and other fields along with the media.
Glimpses of the making of some of these songs were an added attraction.
The title track Ashchorjyo Prodeep, sung by Timir Biswas, Rishi Chanda and Sukanya Ghosh is a curious mix of contemporary Bengali music laced with mystical Arabic strain.
Mozart’s 40th Symphony is the inspiration for the song `Gimme More’ Beshi Beshi that has been brilliantly sung by the very promising Tanya Sen. This is perhaps the first time that an `item number’ has been based on a western classical piece.
The picturization and composition of Dibyendu Mukherjee’s `Make over Song’ is both innovative and exciting.
Saswata Chatterjee and Rajatava Dutta have for the first time given lip to their own voices in the `Dialogue Song’ which is evidently modelled on Hollywood musicals.
The soulful `Funny Sad Song’, sung by Raghab Chatterjee has a `Rabindrik’ feel but some of the words used in the lyrics are not particularly so.
The album also includes three bonus Karaoke tracks to which music lovers can croon.
For the `The Car Song’ charidik bodley gachey the music and lyrics of a popular Bengali film song from yester years has been given a new rendition. Amit Kumar makes a comeback to playback singing with this number. The choice of Amit Kumar and the song is very relevant to the story of the film. However this particular song has not been included in the music CD.
The film which has been inspired by Shirsendu Mukhopadhyay’s short story revolves around Anilabho Gupta, our modern day Aladdin, played by Saswata Chatterjee, an unassuming, quintessential, henpecked middle class Bengali man with a monotonous job and even more monotonous life. However, the mundane life of the protagonist takes a dramatic turn when he finds a magic lamp and embarks on a once in a lifetime joyride, that forms the crux of the story. The film produced by Brand Value Communication Ltd, stars Saswata Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta, Srilekha Mitra, Mumtaz Sorcar and others. Along with Anik Datta, most of the HODs of Bhooter Bhobishyot are also part of the creative team of Ashchorjyo Prodeep. Three times National award winning DOP, Avik Mukhopadhyay is the man behind the camera and the film has been edited by Arghyakamal Mitra, also a National award recipient.
