Arundhati (2014) is an upcoming Bangla Movie starring Tollywood actress Koel Mallick and Indraneil Sengupta and is the official remake of a 2009 Tamil Super hit costume drama, starring the South Indian super heroine Anushka Shetty, Arjan Bajwa, Sayaji Sindhe and Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who played a psycho maniac villain . This Bengali remake is being directed by the ‘Paglu’ & ‘Bawali Unlimited’ Director Sujit Mondal and is jointly being produced by Srikant Mohta and Koel Mallick’s husband Nispal Singh Rane under the prestigious banners of Shree Venkatesh Films Private Limited & Surinder Films Limied.
After the quickly forgotten ‘Dashami’ (2012), which was directed by Suman Maitra, this is the second time Tollywood’s number one mainstream heroine Koel Mallick and Indraneil Sengupta, who happens to be the ‘real hero’ behind the grand success of Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Mishawr Rawhosyo’ has been paired opposite each other. The New Bangla Movie Arundhati is the story about love, passion, hatred, revenge and all these elements are properly mixed in the backdrop of reincarnation.
Arundhati (Koel Mallick) is the great-granddaughter of the Raja Krishnakanta. Grand arrangements are being made for her marriage. She is the first female to be born since her great grand grandmother and is especially revered in the family. While everyone else treats her normally, her grandfather, the head of the family, talks to her with respect as if she is older than him. Arundhati visits her native place before marriage. Arundhati’s fiancé Sidhartha asks her to come & meet him at the fort of Dhulia Bari, where she faces a terribly fearsome experience. That experience haunts her until from an aged family maid Annada Maa; she learns an age old story, which is connected to her ancestors, especially with her great grandmother ‘Arundhati’. The story which enlightens Arundhati about her previous birth also makes here aware of someone called Rudra (Indraneil Sengupta), the darkest chapter in her previous birth. Arundhati also comes to know that she is a look alike of her great-grandmother Arundhati and that’s why her grandfather treats her like his mother. Koel Mallick here plays the role of both the Arundhatis (the great grandmother and the young girl).
Sujit Mondal has earlier directed romantic, action, and comedy dramas like ‘Paglu’ or ‘Mon Mane Na’, but this time, he is trying his luck with something different in form of a romantic and action packed costume drama. Let’s see how ‘Arundhati’ shapes up as a movie and how this movie features at the box office.
