The music launch of the Bengali movie Antaraal took place in the presence of Lopamudra Mitra, Sayani Ghosh, music director Joy Sarkar, Somchanda and Amitabha Bhattacharjee. The film is based on a novel by the same name and is written by Kishnendu Mukhopadhyay.
The film Antaraal is about an unwed girl who becomes pregnant. The baby who was so desired earlier becomes unwanted later on. This leads to the complexities and turmoil in the lives of the woman who conceived. This is the story of the transformation of the girl from an innocent unassuming young lady to a mother.
The music of the film is very important to the film’s element, feels music director Joy Sarkar. “Since the film revolves around the character Mrinmoyee (played by Sayani Ghosh), the songs that I have composed are mostly about her. She has two different roles in the film. The first half deals with the college girl part while the second half of the film is her sudden transformation from the carefree college girl to the unwed mother. Hence all the songs that I have made are keeping in mind her psychological changes in the film” said Joy Sarkar. This film also marks the debut of Joy Sarkar as a singer. There are seven songs in the film. Apart from Joy Sarkar, Lopamudra Mitra, Somchanda, Nachiketa, Somlata and Rupankar have lent their voices to the songs. There is also a Rabindrasangeet “Pran bhorie trisha horie” in the film.
Sayani who plays the role of Mrinmoyee said “I could easily relate with the character and hence I did not need to mould for this role”.
Debasree Roy, Mamata Shankar, Sreela Majumdar, Chandan Sen, Kharaj Mukherjee, Ananya Chatterjee, Harsh Chhaya also play important roles in the film.
The film releases on November 29.
