The cultural function was attended by eminent cultural personalities of Bengal like Krishnapada Das, Tamali Ghosh, and Kakali Ghosal along with famous theater artist & writer Smt. Bijay Laxmi Burman and Tollywood actor Nigel Akkara, being the star attraction of the program.
Maitreyi Ghosh Dastidar, who is the main instructor of Kinnarkunj, also participated in the cultural function along with her students. The team of Kinnarkunj students, which included Ambika, Anusha, Debaleena, Apsari, Debasmita, Trideeb, Janapriya, Anushka, Mayukh ,Chayana, Rachana, Madhurima, Paramjit & Mainak presented solo recitations respectively and also recited poems, written by Satyajit Ray (‘Papangul’) and Rabindranath Tagore (collage of poems from the book ‘Khoka’, which is a collection of poetries). This unique performance was conceived by Kanko Ghosh Dastidar and was directed by Maitreyi Ghosh Dastidar.
Tollywood Actor Nigel Akkara also played a unique role in the recitation performance. Though this was the first occasion, when Nigel Akkara participated in a recitation performance but this inexperience couldn’t be a hindrance in showcasing his skills in poem recitation. It was a team effort in totality and all the students along with their instructor Maitreyi Ghosh Dastidar performed superbly and the audiences thoroughly cherished their performance.
After this performance, Debarka Das also recited few self-written poems and thereafter talented singer cum music composer Chandan Dodo Roy presented some songs. The songs included the Bengali version of Jamaican Farewell and few songs, which were written & composed by Chandan himself.
