Durbin, a new Bangla Movie that has been made on a concept that has never been thought or seen in the Bangla film industry is set to release on January 3. The movie revolves around the detective instincts of three smart ten year olds and their accomplice ‘The Durbin’.
The movie can be aptly called the brain child of television actor Subrata Guha Roy, as along with the story, the screenplay, dialogues and the creative inputs are all his. Mr. Guha Roy, with this unique concept has tried to create a fantastic children’s entertainer and it would not be an exaggeration to say that he has done the task quite well. “I have tried to bring in all the Goendas of Bengal that we have known and talked about since ages and this is what makes the movie different from other children films”, says Mr. Guha Roy.
The star attraction of the movie along with the popular Goendas namely Feluda and Byomkesh are the three kids Ahana Dutta, Deeptodeep Das and Rongeet Guha Roy who have taken the movie to an altogether next level with their easy charm and innocent mischief. Rongeet who plays Pupul in the movie is the leader of the trio and is addressed as Captain Spark by his two friends and it is Captain Spark’s discovery of something mysterious that sparks off the plot of Durbin.
Expectations from the movie has all the more soared because while on one side there are three little kids doing the detective gig, on the other are the most feared and respected Goendas of Bangla cinema namely Sabyasachi Chakroborty and Soumitra Chatterjee who will be seen matching steps with the young investigators.
The New Bangla Children’s Film Durbin has been produced by the dynamic duo Pradip Churiwal and Saikat Mitra who, as was evident from their excitement at the press conference are absolutely confident about the success of the movie which along with the star detectives also has veterans like Aparajita Adhya, Shantilal Mukherjee and others. Young director Swagato Choowdhury, seems to have done a fine job with this complex drama and there is high possibility that he will score a hit right with his directorial debut.
Durbin featured as the opening film of the Kolkata International Children’s Film festival and had also garnered great response from the audience at the KIFF, 2013. The team of Durbin is now taking the movie world over and it shall soon be screened in film festivals in Canada and Dubai.
With its release date set for Januray 3, 2013, the excitement amongst Kolkata kids is already on the high and we hope that the children get a gala new year treat with this unique movie.
