Veteran actor Biswajit Chatterjee, who has gifted the Indian film industry priceless films like Bees Saal Baad, Majboor, Mere Sanam, Shehnai, Mayamrigo, Baba Taraknath, Kuheli and Rehgir to name a few – received the Kolkata Gaurav Samman Lifetime Achievement Award 2014, for his remarkable and outstanding contribution to Cinema over the ages.
Under the initiative of eminent photo journalist Dipanjan Ghosh, the founder of Kolkata Today, the felicitation ceremony was held at Gallery Gold .
Although the veteran actor has received several prized awards over a career span of more than 40 years, this award meant a lot to him. “The name ‘Kolkata Gaurav Samman’, it’s huge. I’m Kolkata’s boy and this is my root. The fact that you all remembered me; it’s a big return and earnestly means a lot to me,” said the veteran star.
The presence of legendary Rabindra sangeet artist Shri Dwijen Mukhopadhyay, alongside the contemporary master painter Wasim Kapoor, actor Joy Banerjee, renowned actor and director Ashok Viswanathan, music composer Shamidh Mukherjee, and youngest daughter Prima Chatterjee made it even more special for the living legend.
