Kolkata was recently treated with soul stirring music at the musical evening Sangeet Sutra which was held at G.D. Birla Sabhaghar on February 1, 2014. The evening was not only marked by a musical concert of sorts but was also celebrated as a day when some of the most prolific music maestros of Bengal were felicitated by their disciples, gurus and fans keeping in line with which Tabla Maestro Pt. Anindo Chatyopadhyay was felicitated by Tabla Guru Pandit. Shankar Ghosh.

The evening started with a performance by Shri Subhasis Bhattacharjee who is the youngest sibling of Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya. He was ably accompanied by Subhayu Sen Mazumdar and Nishad Pandey. Shrimati. Sutapa Bhattacharya’s performance followed that of Subhasis and she presented some beautiful songs in her melodious voice which included a Banni Geet, a Ghazal as well as a Meera Bhajan.

The felicitation ceremony followed Shrimati. Sutapa Bhattacharya’s performance. Pt. Anindo Chatyopadhyay who had just celebrated his 60th birthday was presented with a bouquet of 60 roses, an Uttariyo and such other gifts in appreciation of his contribution to Indian Classical Music.

Post the felicitation, the audience was treated with the performance of Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya.

The musical evening which was organized with Sholoana Bangaliana as the web partners was a rare treat for the music lovers of Kolkata who got to enjoy different forms of gayaki as well as instrumentals in an evening dedicated to Hindustani Classical Music.
