Upcoming Bengali film “Pendulum- a Tale of Time” recently had its music launch ceremony at Oxford book store in Park Street. Anindya Chatterjee, Somlata Acharya, Chandril Bhattacharya, Shaoni, music director Mainak Bumpy Nag Chowdhury, Sreelekha Mitra, Rajatava Dutta and Subhasish Mukherjee were present at the music launch ceremony.
The Pendulum Bengali Audio Songs Album has eight songs and three background themes. The film borrows the characters from the modern urbanized Kolkata, which is a land of sweets, art galleries, IT hubs and many more such memories. The music track of this upcoming Bangla film varies from authentic Hindustani Classical to South American music to alternative rock to trance music. The tunes were composed and recorded during the pre-shoot period of the film. Shaoni sang a classical mukhra, which is a background part of a song in this film. It is a surreal entry into a part in the film that she gave voice to.
Mainak Bumpy Nag Chowdhury on the occasion of the music release said “I have never looked at the songs in this film as mere songs. They are sonic expressions of the themes presented in this film. This will be a better way of expressing the songs. I am a little bit scared as well as tensed also”.
Pendulum is a film which has five different stories in it. The stories are linked with each other through some unknown incidents. The basic narrative of this story is not only about the interweaving of the present incidents but also has links with incidents happening in the past also. The film also has a hangover of the “babu” culture also.
The music of the film is promising and coupled with the good story line the audience can expect something out of the box from this film.
