“I want to get married again” said Bollywood actress Barkha Bisht Sengupta at the launch of eminent designer Chandri Mukherjee’s most awaited Indian Traditional Bridal Collection 2014 at her store. Apart from Barkha, Jessica Gomes and many top models from the city displayed the clothes from this bridal collection of the designer.
“I like to give a Western touch to the ethnic dresses that I design. When I am designing a lehenga in antique designs, I will team it up with a corset so that I can be giving it an Indo-Western look. This will appeal to the new modern brides. The materials used are micro velvet and shimmer georgette. This will give the brides a slimmer look. The materials are light and this will enable them to move easily” said the pretty designer Chandri Mukherjee. Gold, Rani pink, red and orange are the colors used by the designer for the collection. Antique gold work is the other special feature of this bridal collection. She is also the official costume designer of Rituparna Sengupta for her upcoming Bollywoof film Extraordi-Nari.
In a gold embroidered maroon lehenga sari, Barkha looked pretty and sexy. “I love saris. Seldom will you find me in salwar kameez or kurtis. Whenever I get the chance I wear one. Indraneil being a man has great taste in saris. This actually amazes me. He gifts me saris every now and then. Most of my saris are picked by him” said Barkha Bisht Sengupta. The actress who did not have the time to see Chandri’s collection however planned to go through the collection and buy a few saris for herself.
The price range of this collection starts at around fifteen thousand rupees and goes up to sixty or seventy thousand rupees. The designer also makes customized dresses for the customers on their demand. A sale will be held at the end of March too.
