Trailer of Bengali Film Ramdhanu directed by Shiboprasad Mukherjee was launched recently at Priya Cinemas. Shiboprasad Mukherjee, Gargi Roy Chowdhury and other cast members of this film were present at this trailer launch ceremony.

After mesmerizing and wowing the audience with films like Muktodhara, Shiboprasad will be seen getting into the shoes of the actor in this film. Suchitra Bhattacharya‘s Ramdhanu Rang is the  novel from which this film has been adapted for the big screen. “I have previously done small roles in Muktodhara and Accident. But I am a main character in this film and I play the role of a concerned father. Hence the pressures are more this time. Not only do I wear the cap of a director, but I will also have to put my best foot forward in the acting department which I have tried” said the director turned actor Shiboprasad.

The film Ramdhanu is about a middle class Bengali couple who try to get their only child admitted in an English medium school. The film focuses on the current education system prevalent in the society.

The film stars singer Sasha Ghoshal in a pivotal role. The selection of Sasha was done mainly as the director wanted someone who will be able to portray the role of Gargi Roy Chowdhury’s brother with conviction as the charecter in question here has lived abroad for a very long time. All the Balmiki Pratibha songs in the film Muktodhara were by him. When the director approached him, he readily agreed for the role.

Suzanne Bernert plays the role of Sasha’s foreigner wife in this film. Some of the scenes were shot in Shantiniketan. One such scene was Sasha’s return back home with his foreigner wife. The director recalls how he and Gargi taught Suzanne to wear a sari and also taught her a few Bengali words.

Ramdhanu looks like it will be  good take on the education system like the way Bollywood film Taare Zameen Par was.
