The film, primarily on love, friendship and betrayal, also questions the society with its strong backdrop on social issues such as women’s safety, crimes against women and the division of power and resources between the societal classes. Apart from the storyline and the cast the other high point of the film was the music, which was composed by the proficient Jeet Gannguli. The film, based on a true story, released with massive appeal that it had been garnering during its pre release days. The buzz and demand among the movie-goers increased after the release. So huge was the demand, that the producers were compelled to release the film at 29 more theaters across the state, other than the 98 theaters where it was already running. This takes the tally of theater screens presence of the film in its second week to 127. The film, which is not a sequel to the 2008 blockbuster of the same name, directed by Raj Chakraborty, is currently enjoying a magnificent run at the box office. Prior to release there were a few speculations on social media regarding the success of the film. This was mainly because the film lacks the presence of any big names from the industry, apart from music man Jeet Gannguli, while the lead cast consists of entirely fresh faces and fresh talents. Also, the central characters were deglamorized to fit into the realistic backdrop on which the story was set. The film was shot in indie style as well without the splendid backdrop of exotic locations or expensive studio sets. But with the opening of the film, all those mere speculations were lost as the film marches on towards box office glory. Chirodini Tumi Je Amar 2 stands out as a testament that compelling storylines and realistic settings have the same potential for popularity as it is with commercial blockbusters.
