Pallavi Chatterjee, daughter of eminent actor Biswajit and sister of Tollywood Hero Prosenjit Chatterjee is an actress in her own right. She has worked in a string of films like Yugant, Priya, Purushottam, Dosar and many more. She left acting and later returned again with Anjan Dutt’s Ganesh Talkies. In a candid conversation with Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent Priyanka Dutta, the actress bared out the facts on why she left acting and what made her return again.
Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana– You made a comeback with Anjan Dutt’s Ganesh Talkies. Why did you leave acting all of a sudden?
Pallavi Chatterjee– I did not completely leave acting. I was engaged in the production side of this profession. I also left the profession because I wanted to give more time to my family. Hence from being in front of the camera, I shifted to remaining behind the cameras.
Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana– Do you regret the decision of leaving acting?
Pallavi Chatterjee– Yes to a certain extent! When I see the kind of films that are being made today, I regret the decision. But on the other hand, I got to understand the production side of the art of film making. This has enhanced my knowledge considerably and hence one can say that this is a fifty-fifty situation.
Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana– What actually made you came back again to acting?
Pallavi Chatterjee– I realized after some time that becoming a producer was not my cup of tea. The stress was taking a toll on me and hence I decided to come back and start acting. The kinds of films made today are completely different from the ones made earlier. I got many offers for roles which are different from the ones I got earlier. This motivated me and I changed my mind. Women centric roles are now available for the female actors which is a plus point.
Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana– You had a string of releases recently like Ganesh Talkies, Bristi Bristi, Kencho Khurte Keute and so on. What other projects do you have in hand?
Pallavi Chatterjee– I have a few other projects in hand, the names of which I do not want to divulge right at the moment.
Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana– What are you keeping in mind while selecting the roles now?
Pallavi Chatterjee– I cannot stroll around trees, sing and romance heroes now. I am looking for those roles which will match my age well. Hence I chose to play a blind author in Bristi Bristi and a lady police inspector in Kencho Khurte Keute.
Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana– Are you open to working on television?
Pallavi Chatterjee– Yes, there is good work happening now on television. And I am open to working on television too.
