Tollywood Hero Prasenjit Chatterjee Attends Exhibition on Basu Chatterji Films; A Weavers Studio Presentation



Basu Chatterji: A Manzil of Memories”, an exhibition comprising of never seen before film stills, film posters, lobby cards, booklets, his hand-written scripts, and 16 Vinyl records was recently organized at Weavers Studio. The event was presented by Sensorium along with Weaver’s Studio. This exhibition received the “archival support” from NFDC, SMM Ausaja [India’s leading Hindi film-memorabilia archivist], Mahiruha Mukherjee [who has given the Vinyls] and Basu Chatterji’s youngest daughter Rupali Guha. Rupali is a successful television producer and is ready with her directorial debut with New Bengali film, Porichoi starring Tollywood Hero Prosenjit Chatterjee and Kaanchi Heroine Mishti.

The inauguration was graced by the noted writer Ms Bani Basu, the celebrated painter and founder of Arts Acre Shuvaprasanna, director Anik Dutta, actor Barun Chanda, and singer Sabita Chowdhury [Salil Chowdhury‘s wife]. On the 27th evening, the exhibition was attended by the superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee too. Bangladeshi Actor Ferdous also came especially for this exhibition.


This year happens to be the forty-fifth year of his first film Sara Akash (1969) which is considered to be a modern classic by many individuals. Speaking at the occasion, Basu Chatterji said “I am humbled and feel honored to come at this exhibition. This is simply a trip down memory lane for me. All these posters, film stills all have an element of nostalgia. I thank everyone who is engaged with the exhibition”.

Sounak Chacraverti is the curator of this exhibition on the ace director. “Rupali (Basu Chatterji’s youngest daughter) is a friend of mine. Without her assistance and support, I could not have put this entire exhibition. She had faith in me and that helped me a lot” said Sounak Chacraverti.


The exhibition was indeed a treat for the fans of Basu Chatterji’s films. For those who have not seen the films by the director, they got a taste of the films that the director has made.
