Tagore’s Timeless Women Charecters Archived in Tagore Themed Calendar

Highlights fashion studio and ad agency launched their Bengali Nababorsha Calendar at Princeton Club. The theme of the calendar is the women characters in the novels of Rabindranath Tagore. The women characters of Tagore have a distinctive personality of their own and they are a topic of much discussion among the people as these women characters of Tagore were way ahead of their times.

Taking into consideration the important woman characters created by Rabindranath Tagore, a unique calendar in Bengali was launched by the twelve leading city models. The twelve models portrayed the twelve women characters each for a different month of the Bengali calendar.

The models who were part of this calendar and also their respective characters are mentioned as follows- actress Payel Roy as ELA (novel- Char Adhyay), Bibriti as BINODINI, Shree as ASHALATA (novel- Chokher Bali), Supriti as BIMALA (novel- Ghore Baire), Megha as SUSHILA and Sneha as HEMNALINI (novel- Noukadubi), Patrali as CHARULATA (novel- Nashtanirh), Saheli as LABANNYA (novel- Shesher Kabita), Mahashweta as MONIMALIKA (novel- Monihara), Rooqma as MRINMOYEE (novel- Samapti), Tanusree as DAMINI (novel- Chaturanga) and Darshana as KADAMBARI DEVI, Tagore’s sister-in-law, childhood play-mate and his inspiration.

The theme and concept of the calendar was selected by Mr. Raj Saha, the managing director and the founder of the agency. The entire research work, concept development, periodical costumes and stylization has been done by stylist Oindrila Basu. The make-up has been done by famous make-up artist Nanda Majumder. Hair stylist Abinash Bhowmick is responsible for the beautiful hair styles of the models. The photography for the calendar has been done by photographer Siladitya Dutta.

This is indeed a unique initiative taken up by Highlights fashion studio and ad agency to celebrate the Bard’s 154th Birth anniversary.
