Bihaan Music has always tried to build up an identity of its own in the tough and competitive business world of Indian Music Industry. In spite of the financial limitations, it has been publishing a number of audio visual products of the unknown stalwarts of music who have not got the due exposure in the so-called classical music circle. The Young Musician Award in Kolkata has been started by this music company as a token of inspiration to the upcoming talents in music circle. The award has been named after the legendary tabla maestro Ustad Karamatullah Khan Sahib. Present at the award ceremony were Haimanti Shukla, Ustad Sabir Khan (Son of Ustad Karamatullah Khan), Tanmoy Bose and Ravi Mathur.
The Young Musician Award was been given to Anirban Roy Chowdhury. He is a tabla player and follower of the Punjab Gharana. His teachers include Ustad Allarakha, Pandit Yogesh Samsi and Ustad Zakir Hussain. Anirban has been travelling in many counties and imbibing their culture in his music. Apart from performing with the Grammy winners, he has also performed with Indian musical stalwarts. He is actively involved in fusion music and jazz. The most important contribution of this young musician is that he is the founder of “Rhythm Eternal”, an NGO organization with the motto of propagating music globally.
Speaking at the occasion, Ustad Sabir Khan said “The award is not a mere award but this is a huge responsibility that has now been bestowed on the musician. He will have to keep on practicing music and achieve higher levels of perfection making his teachers proud”.
Anirban Roy Chowdhury performed in front of the dignitaries and also released his album “Ecstasy of Beats” at the said event.
We wish Anirban achieves higher levels of excellence in music in the coming days.
