The Bengali word “Roddur” means sunlight. Apart from the myriad names that have been ascribed to the sun, it is also known as “Robi” and “Bhanu”. The film “Jara Roddure Bhijechilo” is essentially about Rabindranath Tagore who is also called by these names. The press conference of this upcoming Bengali film took place at Calcutta Rowing Club in the presence of Soumitro Chatterjee, Arjun Chakraborty, Manasi Sinha, music director Piloo Bhattacharya and the director Bhargonath Bhattacharya.
“The story is about an elderly man, Daroka Bhaduri (Soumitro Chatterjee) who lives alone in his ancestral place “Bhaduri house”. After a heart attack, his health deteriorates. His only son Debendra along with the daughter-in-law, Komolika stays in Boston with grandson Kutty. They hardly ever come to visit him. Daroka babu craves to meet his grandson whom he has never seen. After another heart attack, his friend Arjun informs his son who comes with his family to meet him. Daroka babu who is sentimentally attached to Tagore tries to enlighten the grandson about the Bard. Will the grandfather be able to enlighten the grandson or not is what the story is all about” said director Bhargonath Bhattcharya.
Music of this film has been composed by Piloo Bhattacharya. “There are five songs in the film. I have used Rabidrasangeet mainly in this film. In the background score, songs like E ki Labonye purno prane, phule phule dhole dhole have been used. Dhin tana is a fully commercial song in the film. Arjun Chakraborty, Soumitro Chattterjee, Manasi and Subhasish all have lent their voices to the songs in the film. They all have enjoyed their singing immensely” said PilooBhattacharya.
Arjun Chakraborty, June Maliah, Subhasish Mukherjee, Asit Bose, Samir Biswas, Srijayee Deb will be seen in important roles in this film. The shooting of this film has been done in various parts of the city.
The expected date of release of this film is 1st of August.
