The press conference of the upcoming Bengali film Chaar recently took place at Hotel Hindustan International in the presence of Director Sandip Ray and actors Saswata Chatterjee, Koel Mullick, Abir Chatterjee, Paran Bandopadhyay, Subhojeet Dutta, Pijush Ganguly and Sudipta Chakraborty.
The four stories in the film are by eminent stalwarts of Bengali literature including Satyajit Ray, Parashuram and Saradindu Banerjee. The first story in the film is Boteshwarer Abodaan by Parashuram. The second and the third story are by Satyajit Ray and titled Dui Bondhu and Kaagtarua. The fourth story is by Saradindu Banerjee.
“Chaar is a collection of four short stories. The idea to make Chaar came to me after the success of my earlier effort, Jekane Bhooter Bhoi which again was a collection of short stories. It was during that time that I read the stories and found them interesting so as to make them into a film” said Sandip Ray.
In a green sari, Koel looked beautiful and serene. Speaking about the film she said “It is a great experience working with Babu Da (Sandip Ray). The whole crew was also awesome. Moreover this is the first time I am working in a black and white film. This makes it even more interesting for me”.
“Jekane Bhooter Bhoy had a connecting thread in the stories. But this is not the case with the four stories in Chaar. The four stories are of different kinds and will hugely appeal to the audience who will be coming to see the film” said Abir Chatterjee who looked dashing in a red Punjabi. Abir who has done two films earlier with Sandip Ray added that the experience was a pleasant one.
The New Kolkata Bangla Movie which is produced by Shree Venkatesh Films film is set to release on the 13th of June in theatres all over the city.
