Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaCan you throw some light on the character you play in Chaar?

Koel Mullick– I play the role of Monika. She is the fiancée of Binayak Bose who is an established engineer. Late one night she visits him to have a private conversation with him. What happens after the conversation is what the audience will have to go to the hall and see. I won’t reveal much as that will lessen the interest of the audience.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaHow was the experience of working in a short film?

Koel Mullick– (With a wide smile) it was a mind blowing experience, for sure. You have to deliver the best at the right moment. You do not get the time to develop the character which you can do in a feature film. Hence this was challenging and exciting also.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaHave you seen the entire film Chaar?

Koel Mullick– No, unfortunately I have not seen the entire film yet. I have just seen the part which I have acted in.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaHave you read the original story Porikha?

Koel Mullick– I went through the script first and then read the story.

Priyanka DuttaHow was the experience of working with Sandip Ray?

Koel Mullick– I had a great time. Babu Da (Sandip Ray) and his wife are so cordial that one does not miss their homes on the sets. You develop an emotional bond with them instantly and that is what exactly happened with me.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaHow was the experience of working with Abir Chatterjee?

Koel Mullick– Well I have worked with him before and working again has been a great experience. He is a very spontaneous actor and it is a great experience working with him.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaAbir will be seen as Feluda in Sandip Ray’s Badshahi Angti. How do you feel about it?

Koel Mullick– Well I am excited to see how he plays this legendary sleuth. Abir has already worked wonders as Byomkesh and I hope he recreates the same magic as Feluda.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaYou work in a black and white film. How was the experience different from your usual films?

Koel Mullick– Well this feels great and awesome. I have never worked in a black and white film before. Abir had however worked in such a film before. Hence this was a great experience.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaHow did you prepare yourself for the role? Is your character inspired by any anyone?

Koel Mullick– I have done a lot of homework for the role. There is no inspiration. However, the look in the film may remind one of Kanan Devi and Suchitra Sen’s look in the film.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaHow will you describe your look in the film?

Koel Mullick– The look is quite similar to the heroines like Suchitra Sen and Kanan Devi. I even got to wear the jewelry of Bijoya Roy for the character in the film. The brooch and the jewelry also contributed in a big way to making me look like the lady of the 1940’s.

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana BangalianaYou shot at the same time for Chaar and Arundhati. Arundhati has won you rave reviews. What is your expectation from Chaar?

Koel Mullick– I am very excited for the film and I just hope my audience accepts me in the role of the lady of the black and white era.
