The Hope Foundation Re-Ignites Hope for Unfortunate Children on World Day against Child Labor in Kolkata

World Day Against Child Labor

World Day Against Child LaborThe next time you see a child working, make sure that you take some steps to ensure that he/she is not forced to accept the fate of a child labor. The Hope Foundation on World Day against Child labor (12th June) selected some places in the city to raise awareness among the people about the practice of child labor, which has become such a critical issue in our present day society. Some of the selected places for World Day against Child labor were Jadavpur University, Esplanade, Park Street, Gariahat and Sector Five. The members of the Hope Foundation were seen strolling along the streets with posters and placards in their effort to raise awareness among the people. They urged the people in the city to stop child labor and also collected donations to cater to the needs of the children.

Set up in 1999 to raise funds for one girl’s home, The Hope Foundation is now a registered Irish charity with offices in countries like India, Germany, the UK and the USA. In the past, the organization has been considered critical in ensuring the rights of the underprivileged sections of society, specially the street and slum children of Kolkata.

The mission of the foundation is to cater to the holistic care and development and protection of human rights of severely underprivileged children in India and other developing countries. Partnership, capacity building and support are some of the steps undertaken by the organization to ensure the development of the under privileged sections of the society.

Till date The Hope Foundation has reached out to nearly 30, 000 vulnerable children and over three hundred thousand impoverished children.

With such steps taken up by the Hope Foundation in ending child labor in the city, we fervently hope that the children of Kolkata will have a better future.
