Hundred days to go for the biggest festivity in Bengal and Adi Lake Palli Club also celebrates its hundredth year this time. Adi Lake Palli Club was founded by the late Charu Chandra Chatterjee, a renowned social worker and educationist of that time. His house is presently the seat of the reputed Charu Chandra College. With the passage of time, many eminent personalities like Sri Jyotish Chandra Guha, ex-Secretary of East Bengal Club have got associated with the puja. Adi Lake Palli Club crosses the century threshold this year. The Khuti Puja of this puja took place recently in the presence of Subrata Mukherjee, Debasish Kumar, Mayor-in-council Kolkata Corporation, Tanima Chatterjee, Councillor, test cricketer Devang Gandhi, music director Joy Sarkar and singer Lopamudra Mitra.
Khuti Puja was done by the celebrities and the official announcement was also done about the brand ambassadors of the puja who are eminent musicians Joy Sarkar and Lopamudra Mitra. It was followed by the Vedic Yagna attended by the dignitaries.
Subrata Mukherjee, Honorable Minister, Govt of West Bengal said “It is indeed a great honor for the puja committee to celebrate the hundredth year. Not many pujas have celebrated the hundredth year. I congratulate the club on this achievement. With the Khuti Puja, we herald the start of the Durga Puja”.
Speaking at the occasion, Lopamudra Mitra said “This is indeed a great privilege for me to become the brand ambassador of the puja. I did not even think that I can become the brand ambassador of the Durga Puja”. Her first Puja song was played in a pandal in the year 1996 for the first time. She sang the same song on the occasion “Hey go Maa Durga”.
Joy Sarkar was visibly excited due to the advent of the Durga Puja. “With Khuti Puja, we get the feeling of the coming of the Durga Puja. Hence I am excited and very privileged to be a part of the hundred year old puja” said the singer.
Avenir Event Management Pvt. Ltd has been roped in and given the responsibility to manage the puja in 2014.
With about hundred days to go, Adi Lake Palli Club has already begun preparations for the home coming of the Goddess.
