The fact that he is so popular among the people till date shows how talented a person he was. I will really urge the distributors to release the films of Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen on a commercial level. One will be able to judge and also understand the international standard of his acting”.
Shakuntala Barua reminisced about her acting days with Uttam Kumar. “I used to go back from shooting and go back and tell my husband that my hero will be Samit Bhanja. The other day I would tell the name of someone else. But when I finally told the final name of the hero as Uttam Kumar, my husband was apprehensive and asked me to cancel the shooting. He was so handsome that fathers and husbands feared their wives and daughters would melt after seeing him”.
