Tourist fairs are of much importance for the Bengalis. Bengalis may not want to spend money on other affairs but they will spend on two aspects, one is food and the second is travel. Fairs of this kind will not only help in promoting the already known tourist places but also enable to showcase the lesser known tourist places as well” said MP Mohammad Selim. He also felicitated stall exhibitors from Nepal, Uttar Pradesh and other places.

Apart from the stalls which offered various destinations to the people visiting the stalls, there were some other stalls which was also note worthy. Madhuchhanda Sen’s stall is one of them. CDs on traveling both in India and abroad have been made by the lady. Priced at seventy rupees, the CD has been brought out by Octave Records. The research, camera and direction is been done by her.

Banglanatok.com’s stalls offered handicrafts at ten percent discount to the people coming to the fair. Various kinds of interior decorative items like masks, vases were also available at the fair. Another stall which was worth noticing was the stall selling hand made products made from water hyacinth. Vikram Mitra who is behind the handicrafts said “We started this project in Kolsur village where there is a huge supply of water hyacinth. We process it and transform it into paper. Then we make the product from that paper. This project was started in 2011 with the help of NABARD under the Rural Innovation Fund”. The price of the products is between hundred to five hundred rupees.

Hindoli Boutique offered Dhakai, handloom, byloom, kurtis, designer kurtis to the people. An initiative of Hindoli Sen, the price ranges from one thousand to seven thousand rupees.
