The exhibition of Lightscribers’s took place at the Gaganendranath Pradarshashala, between July 20 -22. The exhibition was inaugurated by the renowned painters Ramananda Bandyopadhyay, Soumitra Dutta and Kushal Gangopadhyay . The exhibition featured photographs by Apratim Kundu, Bhaskar Mukherjee, ChinmoyNag, Debiprasad Mukherjee, Jayanta Bose, Rabin Bhattacharya, Gourab Guha, Sumit Baran Roy besides painting by Bhaskar Mukherjee. The main USP of this photography exhibition is that the photographers are all IT professionals.
It was in the middle of 2013 when a group of IT studying students gathered on the rooftop of their college campus and decided to try their hands at photography. Very few of them were professional photographers, but the idea interested them very much and thus began their journey.
The themes covered in the photography exhibition had landscape photography as well as street and human photography. Mountain photography was the most popular in landscape photography. The surreal landscapes of the mountains in Ladakh and similar other mountainous regions found prominence in the photographs.
That aside, there were also some other lovely landscape photographs that depicted the plains of West Bengal and the meandering rivers that flows through the state. A few stunning seascapes also found place beside the landscape photographs.
In street and people photography the focus lied mostly in capturing the essence of a mood – whether be it a potter creating works from a mound of clay, or an old man looking pensively into time with a face puckered with the marks of age.
The medium most of them selected is camera while a couple of them splashed around with their paintbrushes and pencils to chalk out line of images that spoke to the world.
