Kishore Kumar’s Son Amit Kumar Celebrates Fifty Years in the Music Industry



Amit Kumar, the son of the legendary singer Kishore Kumar recently completed his fifty years in the music industry. To celebrate this journey in the music industry, Shyam Sarkar, Priya Bhattacharya, Dilip Singh in association with the  Amit Kumar Fan Club celebrated a musical evening  Zindagi Ek Safar recently at Nazrul Mancha.


Amit Kumar is a very popular name in the Indian music scenario. Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein is the film directed by his late father with the help of which he made his entry in this industry as an actor. This was way back in 1964. Amit Kumar did his first stage show at Bhawanipore, which is Uttam Kumar’s locality. Gradually Kishore Kumar came to know about his talented son’s activities. He took him to Mumbai when Amit Kumar was just thirteen years old. He recorded his debut song Main Ek Panchhi Matwala Re (Door Ka Rahi). That was the beginning of the illustrious musical journey which is still going on unabated. The singer has lent his melodious voice to Bollywood actors like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna to Tollywood actors like Prasenjit Chatterjee, Jeet, Hiran and many other. He has also recorded songs with Asha Bhonsle, her daughter Versa Bhonsle and also her granddaughter Zanai Bhonsle.

Zindagi Ek Safar the musical evening witnessed the launch of the three audio CD pack  “Musical 50 years of Amit Kumar” on Saregama. This fAudio Music Album features songs in Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Punjabi, Gujarati and Konkani languages. Besides an interesting list of solos it also features some interesting duets with Noor Jehan, Manna Dey, Yesudas and Kishore Kumar. Amal Banerjee on behalf of Saregama handed over the CD to the singer himself who released the CD in presence of his younger brother Sumeet Kumar.


The musical evening featured an exclusive performance by Amit Kumar ( Mujhko Yeh Zindagi( Shailab) , Is Tarah Ashiqui Ka (Imtihaan),Tere Liye Sari Umar ( Yaad Rakkhegi Duniya),Bade Achhe Lagte Hai (Balika Badhu), Kya Hua Is Baat Paar (Teri Kasam). Eminent musician Pt Ajay Chakraborty felicitated the singer in the presence of another notable music composer Jeet Ganguly. Amit also rendered a few of Kishore Kumar evergreens like Kiska Rasta Dekhe ( Joshilaa), Nayano Sharashi Keno. Amit Kumar and his brother Sumeet Kumar cut the cake celebrating his 50 years journey in the industry. Besides that Sumeet Kumar, Priya Bhattacharya, Sujoy Bhowmick, Suswati Mullick also performed many songs of Kishore and Amit Kumar.
