A great blend of the songs of Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Atulpasad with the poems of the late poet Sunil Gangopadhyay has been achieved in the recently released album Swapna Niye. The album is the brain child of budding vocalist Rupnar Dutta. Present at the music launch ceremony were Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee, Riddhi Bandopadhyay and Sidhu of Cactus music band.
Swapna Niye is the dream project of Rupnar Dutta, who has composed many jingles at the beginning of his career in music. He then went on to make a music video “Swapna kacher ayna” which was released from Raga Music. He has also worked as a music director for a drama and works as a lecturer in a Government aided college. Rupnar has received formal music training from Gurus like Guru Sri Ramkrishna Basu, Guru Srimati Mira Saha and others.
The eight songs in the album belong to different genres of music. Rabindra Sangeet, Atulprasadi, Nazrulgeeti as well as contemporary Bengali songs; all have been used in the music album. The poetry of the late poet Sunil Gangopadhyay holds the eight songs together. The songs in the album have been sung by Rupnar Dutta while the poems have been recited by veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee.
Speaking with Sholoana Bangaliana at the occasion, Rupnar Dutta said “Many parts of the poems used in the album have been selected by the late poet himself. This makes the album even more special. The idea was also appreciated by the late poet. This is indeed a dream come true for me”.
The album is readily available at all the leading music outlets in the city. Make sure you grab your copy of this album.
