Premasree gets the Support of Tollywood Glitterati, Starry Auction in Kolkata to Support the Initiative

Premasree, a free residential school for children with visual impairment that was founded by Shri. Biju Nair in the year 2012 is one institution that lives up to its promise of creating a safe haven for the sightless as here, children from different parts of Bengal between the age group of four to eighteen and with visual impairments come in pursuit of a life that is not only dignified but happy too. It is here that these children get their due share of love and care as well as learn the life skills which can enable them to live a life free of dependence.

Starry Auction in Kolkata to Support Premasree

In an effort to support this wonderful initiative and thought, Mr. Rana Basu Thakur who is the chief mentor at Just Lateral ThinkInk and Satrajit Sen of Tripod Entertainment organized a star studded auction at MYX in Park Street bringing in the Tollywood Glitterati to lend their support.

Noted Painter Suvaprasanna, Designer Sharbari Datta, Actress Kanchana Moitra, Sreelekha Mitra and Sudipta Chakroborty along with director Srijit Mukherji and RJ/Actor/Singer Mir were present at the auction. Mir who with his easy charm can light up any atmosphere lovingly interacted with the children who had come down for the evening and from thereon even took to hosting the auction as well as singing a few hit numbers with his band Bandage.

Along with the celebrities adding the auction’s glam quotient, the live art installation by painter Suvaprasanna was something that kept the guests engrossed. Seeing the master’s brush strokes transforming a white canvas into a painting worth a lakh is something that many will remember the evening for.

Along with the painting made by Suvaprasanna , other things that were put up for auction were actress Sushmita Sen’s Neeta Lulla designed dress worn by her in Srijit Mukherji’s new Film Nirbaak, Sreelekha Mitra’s Saree (one that she wore to the auction that evening), Prosenjit Mukherjee’s costumes from the film and other such valuable memorabilia.

The children also presented the celebrity guests with beautiful artworks that they had prepared specially for the occasion and also sang a melodious song to utmost perfection.

Such wonderful initiatives by a handful of responsible citizens indeed act a beacon of hope for the society as they time and again reiterate that we humans (even if a handful) are still capable of selfless work and thought. Hats off Shri. Nair, Mr. Satrajit Sen and Mr. Thakur!
