The gold kundan jewelry crafted for the idol reflects the eternal beauty combined with the empowering nature of Goddess Durga. Artist Mrinmoy is behind the designing of the jewelry for the goddess and her children. About two hundred artists worked on the making of this jewelry for the Mother Goddess. Three months of research work and six months of labor has led to the final making of the jewelry. The gold jewelry is made of 22 karat gold and Kundan polka has been used in the designing of the jewelry.
The intricate jewelry is crafted in 7.7 kgs of pure 22 karat and 18 Karat Gold with Jaipur Kundan work re-created with Bengali aesthetics. The jewelry pieces are designed for Goddess Durga, Goddess Laxmi, Goddess Saraswati, Lord Kartikey and Lord Ganesha . It is inspired from the divine and pure Lotus flower. Lotus being the most sacred flower has a great significance during the Durga Pujo celebrations. The powerful image and spiritual symbol of the flower is incorporated in the design of the jewelry representing purity and peace.
Speaking at the occasion Rajeshwari Srinivasan, Associate Vice President & Regional Business Head of East Titan Company Limited said, “Tanishq continues to celebrate the festive spirit of Durga Puja in the city of Kolkata. We started the association last year and we wish to take forward this tradition yet again this year. It was a huge challenge for us to create life size ornaments for the idol as there were no moulds present. Tanishq aims to drive relevance for gold across consumer categories and life stages and has designed jewellery for Maa Durga keeping the spirit of Durga Puja in mind.”
