Tollywood hero Dev and Mimi wishing fans Sharodiyar Subechcha with New Pujo Song ‘Ebar Jeno Onno Rokom Pujo’ from their New Film Yoddha

Dev and Mimi at the Music Launch of New Kolkata Bengali Film Yoddha

Bengal’s heartthrob Dev has been gifting his fans with block buster movies every Durga Puja and in keeping with this tradition of last 5 odd years, this year too, the new Kolkata Bengali Movie Yoddha staring Dev, Mimi, Nigel Akkara and others is ready for release on Maha Saptami (1st of October).

In a press conference organized to launch the Pujo special song from the movie, the Yoddha stars spoke at length about their experience while shooting for this grand movie. The song ‘Ebar Jeno Onno Rokom Pujo’, as revealed by the Dev, is one of its kinds as along with the Pujo flavor it also has the theme of love entwined in its overall presentation. While Dev seemed quite happy to have another Durga Puja song to his credit, the pretty Mimi seemed visibly excited about featuring in one for the first time; more so because a Durga Puja song is something that we Bengalis hold so close to our hearts and enjoy listening to during all festivities.

Dev while talking about why people should watch Yoddha also emphasized on the fact that it is not any one movie that he would want to speak in favor of as Bengali cinema as a whole is close to his heart and needs more support from the audience at large. Having said that, Dev also said that while people should watch Yoddha they should also not miss the other two big releases, namely Bachchan and Chotushkone that are releasing on the same day as his movie; a wonderful gesture on the generous MP’s part!

Music Director Indraadip Dasgupta who for the first time has composed music for such a peppy commercial number was also quite excited about how the song has shaped up and the response it has been getting from the audience. He only had to say, “We have worked very hard to present this number in a manner that will appeal to you all and your good words about the movie and the songs will only help boost our confidence to present more such numbers in future.”

The lyricist Prasen, when asked to share his experience about the whole process of making this song only had to say that a lot of hard work, constructive thought and analysis has gone into giving the song ‘Ebar Jeno Onno Rokom Pujo’ the final shape and the audience should go to the theaters again and again to relive the Puja Days with this film.

Actor Nigel Akkara who will be seen in a negative role was also quite happy about this big break and very humbly said that he not only feels fortunate to share screen space with the likes of Dev and Mimi who reside in the hearts of millions but is also quite nervous contemplating the outcome and the audience’s reaction towards his performance. When asked about his character in the film, Nigel said, “I am a villain here but this is a villain with a twist  as he can do anything for Love”. Talking about his special memories from the entire shooting schedule, Nigel said that he had to learn horse riding which he took a real long time to perfect but when he did so, he completely fell in love with the horses and now often goes to the stables to spend some time with the animals.

Actress Mimi, looking gorgeous as ever in a neon top and denims was her usual chirpy self and while interacting with the press revealed that she had to put in a lot of effort to get into the skin of Durga the princess as she not only had to look and behave like a princess but carry the attitude too. Mimi also said that with this movie releasing right during Bengal’s biggest festival and to add to that her presence in a Pujo song, Durga Puja 2014 is surely going to be one to remember for life.

Yoddha with its elaborate sets, very proficient star cast and larger than life presentation is surely going to be a landmark film not only in the career of the director Raj Chakroborty but the actors too, and from the response it has been garnering from the audience, the producers Shree Venkatesh Films surely can count on huge Box Office collections this Durga Puja.
