Eminent Rabindrsangeet singer Indrani Sen who has been mesmerizing audiences for many years with her sweet melodious voice performed her debut solo musical evening titled Arghya- Nana Ranger Gaan recently at Satyajit Ray Auditorium. The program was initiated by Picasso Entertainment. Legendary Rabindrasangeet exponent Sumitra Sen (who is also her mother) was present among the guests.
The first half of the musical evening had songs lesser performed before by the singer. Some of the songs which she sang included Nahi Surjyo Nahi Jyoti( Swami Vivekananda) and Ekhan Ki Nagar Tomar ( Michael Madhusudan Dutta ). Ekhan Ki Nagar Tomar is a song based on “ Khemta” style which was popular among the “ Babu” culture back then. Anugata Jone Keno is a tappa based song which the eminent singer once recorded for the tele serial Rajeshwari. She also performed a few Nazrul Geetis for the audience. Some of the ones which she sang include Bhuli Kemone and Eso Priyo. Bankim Chandra Chattyopadhyay’s Vandemataram was her last offering in the first half of Arghya.
The second half was fully dedicated to the popular modern songs that she had recorded for various music composers including- Sandhya Name Surjyo Astachole ( Music & lyrics- Agniva Bandyopadhyay ), Chupi Chupi Badal Hawa ( Music- Chandan Roy Chowdhury from tele serial Priyatama ), Ja Bhule Jare Mon ( Music & lyrics- Tapan Sinha ), Rangini Kata Mon ( An homage to Manna Dey ) and so on.
As a whole the event was full of melody and she showcased her versatile singing abilities through her performance at the musical event Arghya.
