Kolkata’s leading bookstore chain Starmark, in association with Traverse Productions and Publications, hosted the launch of Niseemanar Bera (Frontiers of Infinity)—a collection of travelogues by Koushik Lahiri—at its South City Mall outlet. Niseemanar Bera was launched by the eminent Bengali writer Budhhadev Guha. The launch was followed by an informal adda session on the subject ‘Bengalis love to travel, but do not read travel literature’. The session was attended by well-known personalities from various fields and those who took part include actress Gargi Roy Chowdhury, Agnimitra Paul, Subhas Bhowmik and others.
Dr. Koushik Lahiri’s creative explorations begun during his childhood aided by a conducive cultural environment which was nurtured by his parents Dr. Bhabesh Chandra Lahiri, a reputed dermatologist, and Rabindrasangeet exponent Smt. Suchhanda Lahiri. Professional assignments saw him travel round the world –China, Japan, Korea, Egypt, France, Iran, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, England, America, Latin America and South Africa. Alongside his flourishing professional work, Dr. Lahiri also attached equal importance to writing and has already authored specialized books on dermatology Chena Twak Ajana Katha (2002), Twaker Aami Twaker Tumi (2004) and Jukti Twak O Goppo (2010). A keen photographer, his works are available on Google Earth. He is also the Chief Editor of the Indian Journal of Dermatology.
Dr. Koushik Lahiri along with being a traveler is also a passionate photographer. His wanderlust has taken him to unknown places all over the world. The book consists of nearly three dozens of write-ups based on the writer’s experiences in various corners of the globe like Borneo, Barcelona, Mandu, McCluskieganj, Johannesburg as well as Jalpaiguri. Dr Lahiri’s dexterity in writing coupled with wonderful photographs make this book a one of its kinds for the travelling enthusiasts.
The book therefore will make for an interesting read for the travel loving individuals.
