UnIndian, the first feature of the Australia India Film Fund (AIFF) has begun its production in the month of October. This was announced by the Australian Prime Minister, the Hon. Tony Abbott, MP in India.
Established in the year 2013, the Australia India Film Fund will be investing in Australian films which will have Indian themes. This will target a global audience. UnIndian is a romantic comedy with noted Australian cricketer Brett Lee in the lead role and Bollywood actress Tannishtha Chatterjee (of Gulaab Gang Fame).
The Australian feature film is written by Thushy Saathi and directed by Anupam Sharma. UnIndian is presented by Devendra Gupta and Yateender Gupta. Produced by Anupam Sharma and Lisa Duff , the executive producer of the film is Chandru Tolani.
The story of the film revolves around Meera (Tannishtha Chatterjee) who meets Will (Brett Lee) who is a charismatic man. However love is the last thing on Meera’s mind. Meera is an Australian of Indian origin; she is settled in Sydney and has carved out a career and life for herself and her daughter. However her marital status is a subject of much discussion within her family members. She is encouraged to meet a nice Indian man and marry him. Does she succumb to the wishes of her family? Or does she follow her heart and lives the way she wants to? The film answers all these questions.
Tannishtha Chatterjee who plays Meera in the film was highly excited to act opposite Australian cricketer Brett Lee. Australia is a special place for the actress who is looking forward to acting in the film.
With such crossover endeavors taking place, films pertaining to the global audience will surely be on the rise in the coming times. Indian films will surely attain the global attention that it had been trying to garner over the years.
