He was a jailor before he became an excise officer. But his passion for music continued unabated. This led him to bring out his first music album ‘Sudhu Tor Jonyo’. The person I am speaking about is Sandip Ray. The music launch of his album took place at The Park Hotels in the august presence of Mahua Lahiri, Usha Uthup and Saheb Bhattacharya.

“The album is dedicated to my wife. She delivered a baby yesterday and hence she could not come to this occasion. The album contains four songs- Sudhu tor jonyo, Deep jola sandhyay, Ki je ki holo and Toke chara aaj. All the songs have been written by me and the music has been arranged by Pinak Janmenjoy” said Sandip Roy.
“Even in the face of piracy Mahua has been helping artists to bring out their music albums. This is indeed a great initiative and I wish Sandip all the very best. He showed the courage to pursue his passion in music and bring out the music album which is great. Even my father also worked for the police. But that does not mean he had no passion for the arts or music. These are just misconceptions which people have” said Usha Uthup. The talented singer also congratulated Saheb Bhattacharya for his wonderful acting in the recently released film Khad, the preview shows of which are already going on for the media.
Mahua Lahiri of Asha Audio said “Piracy is rampant now. I will like to see how our former police officials stop that and helps in the genuine selling of his music CDs”.
Priced at Rs. 99, the music album Sudhu Tor Jonyo will be available at all leading music stores in the city.
