Rabindranath Tagore was a man of all seasons. He was not only a great poet but also an influential writer who wrote on a variety of topics. His creations have surpassed time and his writings still play a major role in directing the thought process of today’s generation. What he thought of years ago is now implemented in our lives. It was in the month of November that he was awarded with the prestigious Noble prize in Literature in 1913 for his work Geetanjali and this month is synonymously known as the Noble month for Bengal. To commemorate this win years ago, ace elocutionist and popular media personality Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee organized an event titled Jonmodine Rabindranath. The show was held at Gyan Manch premises.
The show had anecdotes, incidents and stories related to the Bard’s birthday celebrations. The chronology was maintained throughout the show and the changes in the social and political scenario was also highlighted. Lopamudra Mitra, Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee and Sangita Chatterjee took an active part in relaying these to the audience with the help of songs and stories.
The chief guest for the show was Dr. Shashi Panja, MOS of Child Development, Women Development, and Social Welfare. Well known lyricist Pradip Dasgupta and thespian musician Nirmala Mishra were felicitated before the show. One of the most popular audio artists of the city, Satinath Mukhopadhyay acted as the host of this event. The program was presented and organized by Green Carpet, the film and television wing of Riddhi Media, a company that envisages excellence in media and entertainment.
Jonmodine Rabindranath was indeed an evening to remember the Bard who continues to live on through the marvels that he had created through his writings. Long Live Rabindranath Tagore!!!
