Bengali Serial Sai Baba on Aakash Aath
For the first time in the history of Bengali television industry a mega serial on the saint Shirdi Sai Baba is being made by Aakash Aath. The channel which had been making its presence felt with content rich shows came up with this idea to cater to the growing popularity of the saint among the people in Bengal. The announcement of the mega serial took place recently in the august presence of Bhaswar Chatterjee, Abhisekh Chatterjee, Debjit Roy, Debanjan Chatterjee, Eshita Surana (Director of Aakash Aath) and other eminent personalities.
Bhaswar Chatterjee plays the role of Sai Baba and the younger Sai Baba will be enacted by Debanjan Chatterjee. Speaking at the occasion, Bhaswar Chatterjee said “My mother was in a very pathetic condition and doctors had no hopes that she will even recover. I am a devotee of Sai Baba and I went to the temple in Kolkata. After I came back and put the flowers on my mother’s forehead, my mother recovered after a week. I am not telling this because I am doing the lead role. But miracles do happen and this is one which I have seen with my own eyes”. The actor appeared in the costume of Sai Baba at the press conference.
Debjit Roy is behind the music composition for this serial. “I have composed music for devotional serials like Mahaprabhu, Rajeswari before. But the music of this serial is different as the other serials were made on personalities from Bengal. But Sai Baba is not from Bengal and I have made efforts to retain the special flavor of his Ghazals. I have composed original songs too for the serial. The Western part of our country has heavy usage of Dhol, Mridangam and I have used them in the serial also” said the music composer.
Eshita Surana who is the director of Aakash Aath opined that this is the first time that the life of the saint will be shown for the Bengali audience. After watching the reaction, the span of the serial will be decided. Till now four months is the time period which had been targeted by the channel authorities.
A huge devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba, actor Abhisekh Chatterjee added that Bhaswar was indeed lucky to have got the chance to portray such a character on-screen.
The mega serial on the saint will be aired from 13th November from Monday to Saturday at 6.30 pm.
