The name Karen Anand will strike a chord in the minds of many people who have gone through her books or watched her food shows on various channels like CNBC, Star World or Star One. She is a woman with diverse qualities- chef, business woman, writer and a food consultant. Karen was in the city for the Farmer’s Market, a wonderful initiative to return to natural foods.
Speaking at the occasion with Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent, Karen Anand said “There is a growing consciousness among the people for things natural. People are now interested in knowing where the foods originally come from. This necessarily does not have to be vegetarian foods. This can be your fish, meat or eggs. We are focusing on the pesticide free foods which will not only be good for your health but also good for the environment too”.
This innovative concept was started in Pune with a handful of individuals. “Mostly the people were not initially aware of the concept. We have a handful of people who will be coming for the workshop at The Taj Bengal. We are keeping the group small so that interactions can happen and the people get to clear their doubts easily” said Karen.
For those individuals interested in sharpening their culinary skills, head straight to the Taj Bengal on the 16th of November for culinary demonstrations by the chef herself throughout the day starting from 11 am onwards. Vikas Milhoutra, executive chef of Taj Bengal will also be present has designed the menu for the live counters at the Farmer’s Market on Sunday.
After Kolkata, Karen will be travelling to Mumbai on 22nd and 23rd November, Goa on 14th December and Gurgaon on the 21st of December.
