Have you been to the Madame Tussauds or dream of visiting the museum? You do not have to go far now. After London, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, the city of Kolkata is getting its very own wax museum. This is the second city in the country to get a wax museum. The wax museum is located on the sixth floor of the New Town Financial Hub in Rajarhat. The museum is right opposite the sprawling premises of the Eco Park which is another tourist attraction. This wax museum has been developed by HIDCO.
The wax statues in the Kolkata museum have not been sculpted by Madame Tussauds but have been done by an experienced wax artist from Burdwan named Susanta Ray. The wax museum was inaugurated by Honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from Netaji Indoor Stadium right after the inauguration of the 20th Kolkata International Film Festival. The Chief Minister dedicated the museum to the people of the city of Kolkata. She also added that this will make Rajarhat a destination for leisure and work.
The wax museum now houses nineteen famous personalities. Some of them are Amitabh Bachchan, Sourav Ganguly, Suchitra Sen, Ramkrishna Paramhansa, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Uttam Kumar, Suchitra Sen and others.
The statues at the wax museum are accompanied with narrations highlighting the achievements of the personalities. Relevant settings and props have also been added to make the setting look real.
For the visitors special booths have been constructed for photo opportunities. They can also click pictures with the wax statues to their heart’s delight. A large cafeteria also has been set up adjacent to this museum which offers a great view of the Eco Park.
Hence the wax museum will indeed be a good place to head to during the weekends with family and friends.
