When he entered the hall, shouts and cheers erupted from the assembled guests. Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan was in the city for the shooting of Piku directed by Shoojit Sircar and he also unveiled the first look of the film Open Tee Bioscope at a star studded event at The Oberoi Grand.
Debutant director Anindya Chatterjee’s Open Tee Bioscope is a story about Phoara and his three friends. The film has flying kites, first love and football as the theme. Phoara has not seen his father ever since he was a child. His mother always avoided answering questions involving his father. He had got a passport size photograph of his father from his grandmother. The photograph used to always stay inside the pages of a book. Ever since he has come to this neighborhood, he cannot find the photograph. What happens next is what the film is all about.
Speaking at the occasion, Amitabh Bachchan said “This is a great privilege for me to come to this event. One never likes to reveal what one did when one was young. However Kolkata is a great city and I am lucky to have spent some time in this city from 1962 to 1969. Those were the first years of independence for me. I had a great job and I was single. I had great fun living in Kolkata. My elders used to ask me what do I aspire become when I grow up. I used to think hard for the answer but now I have the answer. I want to be a kid again”.
The film stars Riddhi Sen, Rwitobrata Mukherjee, Dhee Majumder, Surangana Bandopadhyay, Kaushik Sen, Rajatava Dutta, Sohini Sarkar and many others. Shot extensively in North Kolkata, the music of the film has been done by Upal Sengupta.
The film Open Tee Bioscope is produced by Rising Sun Films and will be releasing on January 2015.
