ETV Serial Byomkesh Bakshi Grand Launch
Bengalis apart from being famous for their sweets and culture are also popular for some of their literary sleuths like Feluda, Byomkesh Bakshi, Kaka Babu and others. These sleuths who are not just popular but fanatically idolized by the Bengalis have found acceptance amongst the non-Bengali audience too. One such popular sleuth is Byomkesh Bakshi. The adventures of this Bengali detective had been adopted earlier for a Hindi television series many years back. The adventurous sleuth was shown in a number of Bengali films too. Byomkesh Bakshi is making his debut on the Bengali small screen with the television series Byomkesh. The look launch of this serial was held in the presence of the cast and other eminent personalities at Simpark Mall, Kolkata.
The very intellectual looking Gaurav Chakraborty plays the lead role of Byomkesh in this television series. Clad in a white Punjabi with a shawl, he looked every bit the character he is slated to play. The excited actor said “This feels great as I am able to play the sleuth whom I have grown up reading. Hope the audience will accept me in this role”. His father Sabyasachi Chakraborty who introduced the star cast on stage added that since a new Feluda has emerged, the audience needed a new Byomkesh as well.
Actress Ridhima Ghosh who had earlier played modern characters in many a Bengali films will be essaying out the role of Satyabati in the serial. The actress looked demure yet beautiful in the traditional way in which she wore her sari. “My character gets introduced a little later in the series. Satyabati adds a romantic angle to Byomkesh’s life” said the actress with a smile.
Neel Dutt has composed the music for this series while eminent film maker Mainak Bhaumik is the creative director of this upcoming television series. “There are many stories of the sleuth which are not made into films or serials. We aim to make all the stories into television series for the fans to enjoy the novels” said Mainak Bhaumik.
Srijit Mukherjee confessed that he liked Byomkesh Bakshi more than Feluda. The director wished the whole team all the best for their endeavors.
