New Bollywood Film UNGLI Gang Story; Concrete Call for Action from the Writer of Rang De Basanti

The common day to day problems of the common man is the story behind Dharma productions’ upcoming Hindi film Ungli. Produced by Karan Johar, the film has been directed by Rensil D’Silva who had earlier written the script of the blockbuster film Rang De Basanti.

The film Ungli depicts the day to day problems that a common man faces in the society. This moves five friends who take it upon their shoulders to fight back against the atrocities. This gang consists of Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda, Angad Bedi and Neil Bhoopalam. Sanjay Dutt and Neha Dhupia will also play pivotal roles in this upcoming Bollywood film.

Since the subject of the film is topical and highly relevant, the director had to handle it carefully. According to the director, the youth in our country really want to take things in their hands and change them for good. He also realized ten years after scripting Rang De Basanti that candle light marches simply do not give results that one wants. They at the most get media attention. However they are soon forgotten. What we need is action and the gang of friends in the film engages in some serious action.

Producer Karan Johar however highlighted that despite being made on such a topical issue, the film is high on entertainment value. This is also the most unusual film that he has made as a producer till date.

Ungli hits the screens on 28th November, 2014.
