Bangur Book Fair Inauguration
If there is anything in the world that can truly be called man’s best friend, philosopher and guide it is books. The Bangur Boi o Utsav Committee inaugurated the first edition of the book fair in the area titled Pustak parbon 2014. The inauguration was done in the presence of Hon’ble minister- actor Bratya Basu, Hon’ble Minister Purnendu Bose, Mriganka Bhattacharya, author Sanjib Chattopadhyay and poet Nirendranath Chakraborty.
The book fair has a good variety of book stalls and ensures that the people will be able to find the books of their choice at the fair. Apart from the books cultural programs and interactive games and sessions form an important part of this book fair. Leading educational consultants will also be coming to the fair to interact with the students who are interested in pursuing their studies abroad. Renowned singers like Raghab Chatterjee, Monomoy Bhattacharya, Haimanti Shukla, Lopamudra Mitra will be performing at the book fair. Folk performances will also feature in this book fair. The grand finale will witness performances by Sudarshan Chakraborty and the Sapphire group too.
Speaking at the occasion Hon’ble minister-actor Bratya Basu said “We had been trying for some time to start a book fair in Bangur and I am glad we succeeded. The charm of reading a book by taking it in your hand never fades out. Even with the changes in technology, this will still remain popular”.
Debotrisha Sengupta set the mood of the inauguration ceremony with her spirited singing of a song by Tagore. The inauguration event also saw artist Kishore Saha draw Goddess Saraswati without moving his pen from the paper. Eminent Bengali singer Rupankar Bagchi later mesmerized the audiences with his mesmerizing voice.
The book fair will continue till the 7th of December.
